日本出光品牌历史：出光佐三于1911年创立本公司，1940年改组合资公司，1949年拿到石油特许经营权搭上了战后经济成长期迅速扩张，进行石油进口和提炼业务，50年代接管旧日本海军的油库增建炼油厂，与中部电力三菱商事共同成立东邦石油。1967年旗下千叶制油厂建成了世界上**重油直接脱硫设备。但是直到2006年才上市，之前的岁月都是家族独资和私人集资来运作，有浓厚神秘色彩。子公司有出光加油站和宇佐美矿油等17间并跨足保险和地热等行业，在中国台湾设立了台化出光石油化学公司。
