PC Basic Description:
PC can be divided into aliphatic, alicyclic, aromatic and aliphatic aromatic groups. As one of the five engineering plastics, polycarbonate mainly refers to bisphenol a polycarbonate. PC is a kind of thermoplastic engineering plastics with excellent comprehensive properties. It can be used to manufacture parts such as machinery, automobile and precision instrument. It can also be used in electronic components and electric tool parts. However, the processing and molding requirements of PC are high, and it has no self-lubricating property, so it is not suitable for manufacturing products with metal inserts. Due to its non-toxic, good chemical resistance and excellent food hygiene performance, PC can be widely used in daily life. In particular, its tranrency is superior to other engineering plastics, so it is widely used in aviation glass, lamps, safety glass, office equipment, laser disc and other fields. It can be said that in all areas of the national economy, PC has been widely used, and is still expanding.
Polycarbonate (PC) has good mechanical properties and good creep resistance, which is better than that of phthalamide and paraformaldehyde. Especially, PC modified by glass fiber has better creep resistance, so it can bear higher load at higher temperature and ensure dimensional stability. The main shortcomings of polycarbonate mechanical properties are easy to produce stress cracking, poor fatigue resistance, high notch sensitivity, no wear resistance and so on. PC has good high and low temperature resistance, good heat resistance at 120 ℃, and hot deformation temperature of 130 ~ 140 ℃. At the same time, it has good cold resistance, brittleness temperature is - 100 ℃, long-term service temperature is - 70 ~ 120 ℃. Moreover, its thermal conductivity and specific heat capacity are not high, its linear expansion coefficient is small, its flame retardancy is good, and it has self extinguishing property. As a weak polar polymer, PC has better electrical insulation although its electrical insulation is not as good as that of polyolefins. Because of its high glass transition temperature and low hygroscopicity, it can maintain good electrical properties under wide temperature and humidity conditions
